As a second career Mann started painting in oils again after a long absence. Bonnie is mostly self taught but credits much of her art knowledge and her skill to studying with artists in workshops and class environments. She is greatly influenced by Texas artists and by inspired by works of David Leffel. A full-time painter, she paints still life and landscapes from her studio in her home in the Texas Hill Country. Her favorite medium is oil on canvas. Mann says her paintings begin with a concept, an idea that can be portrayed through her choice of subject and colors and composition. Mann states: " When painting landscapes I am there mentally and emotionally even when painting in my studio. I enjoy setting up and painting still life. I often include in my set up things I have collected over time and I love arranging objects and experimenting with the light. I want to paint what I conceive in my mind's eye and I can only hope that the viewer can relate. No matter what the subject, I want to invite the viewer into my world by telling a story, conveying an emotion. I believe an artist is forever evolving and I am enjoying the process"

Doug Roper, a San Antonio artist with a lifelong exposure to fine art strives for perfection in both his life and work. Charles Schubert
Oil & Acrylic Painting, Pastel, Sculpture, Relief
830.249.9559 (studio)
Charles Schubert was born in Hallettsville, Texas, a small town about midway between San Antonio and Houston. After obtaining a degree in physics from the University of Texas in Austin, Charles entered the Air Force. After the Air Force he moved to Boerne, Texas.
Charlie’s art is influenced by the classical works he visited repeatedly at Smithsonian museums, and by contemporary art he viewed at galleries across the nation. He developed sculpting and painting skills largely on his own, with help from occasional art classes and a growing library of art books. His sculptural works include small figurines, larger sculptures derived from body castings, and a variety of bas reliefs. For most of his sculptures, the entire creation process, from design through casting and final finishing, is done in his own studio. A small portion of his sculpture collection has been foundry-cast in bronze. To supplement the sculptures, Charles has occasionally produced pastel, watercolor and oil paintings. More recently, he has been concentrating on acrylics. Subject matters for his art include outdoor scenes, landscapes, animals, portraits and figures. He has also written a notebook full of songs, which he has performed now and then at small local venues.
